A few kilometers from the Verona Sud motorway exit at Castel d'Azzano, the Muraless Art Hotel, WorldHotels Crafted, Castel d'Azzano, Italy, turns an ordinary hotel into something unique, its walls covered in the language and characters of urban street art. Billed as the world's first hotel dedicated exclusively to street art, it uses murals to celebrate local culture and Italian craft and design, so that the artwork becomes part of every stay.
Bold, colorful themed rooms and open spaces carry the theme throughout, where work by a string of muralists turns corridors and walls into a gallery, and a restaurant, bar and terrace round out the stay. For all its modern energy, the setting is classic Veneto, with Roman Verona and the Arena di Verona a short drive north, the marble Piazza delle Erbe, Ponte Scaligero and Castelvecchio and Juliet's House (Casa di Giulietta) gathered in the old centre, and open-air opera filling the arena on summer nights. Beyond the city, Lake Garda's southern shore and the moated castle of Sirmione lie a short way west, the Valpolicella and Soave wine roads thread the surrounding hills, Mantua UNESCO World Heritage Site and its Ducal Palace rise a short drive to the south, and Lake Garda's beaches draw families nearby.
