In the centre of the little Dolomite resort of San Martino di Castrozza, at 1,487 metres, the Hotel Cima Rosetta, WorldHotels Distinctive, San Martino di Castrozza - Trento, Italy, sits beneath the soaring Pale di San Martino, run by the Taufer family since the 1960s. Founded in 1894, the hotel keeps a warm mountain character with comfortable rooms, a restaurant and easy access to the slopes and trails.
The pale peaks rise almost straight from the village.
A warm, long-standing family welcome rounds out the alpine stay. The rosy walls of the Pale di San Martino tower over the village, cable cars and footpaths climbing into the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Nature Park, cared for by its park authority, where the ancient 'violin forest' of spruce, alpine lakes and rich mountain wildlife fill the valleys.
Ski runs in winter and wildflower meadows in summer ring the resort.
